A Team Hollingsworth Spooktacular!
Alice had a great Halloween in The Natti with her new friends the Chandler girls. Her peacock costume was a hit. She takes these things seriously, so we checked out some real live peacocks that afternoon at the Cincinnati Zoo, along with other fun animals (see below). Thanks again to Team Chandler and Uncle Tony for a great weekend! Enjoy the pictures of our Halloween Adventure...if you dare!

Alice must be really into the Halloween spirit this year, she keeps looking like famous people. First, it was Elton John (see below). Today it is the father of Apple, Steve Jobs, in his trademark black turtleneck and jeans. This explains why she always wants to hold my iPhone...

We recently had a long plane trip during which we struggled mighitly to entertain Alice. As this picture shows, she has a soft spot for 70's glam soft rock. The resemblance is striking.

Caught In The Act
Alice got busted in her attempt to clear out the cupboards in VT. This is part of her ongoing efforts to destroy all attempts at organization she encounters. She tried to blame it on the orange horse in the background, but the camera (and her guilty face) tell another story...

You Say It's Her Birthday
Alice celebrated her First Birthday in style this weekend, complete with the obligatory "cake on her face picture" and a felt birthday crown from her Nana. Because of some allergy concerns, Katherine made Alice's cake from a mix that was wheat free, dairy free, soy free, nut free, and egg free. Surprisingly, it was edible. Alice had fun making sure the cake ended up everywhere, including a few bites that actually made it in the mouth. Alice seemed to enjoy her presents and the packages in which they came, though she did get tired and there was a meltdown when a ladybug with small pieces was prematurely removed from her grasp. Regardless, it was her party and she can cry if she wants to. Many thanks for all of your birthday wishes and a special shout out to Grams, Ace, Carey, Brett and Moses for celebrating in person!

One
I have a hard time believing it has been one year since Alice joined me and Katherine, turning what was a lovely partnership into Team Hollingsworth. Her surprise entry into the world and the subsequent 365 days have proven the axiom about parenthood true that it is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.
On this the first anniversary of her birth, it is appropriate to consider just how far she has come in that year. Statistics help inform the conversation (from 4 pounds to 19, from 17.5 inches to 29) but the journey is best conveyed in pictures. To that end, I've linked to several of our favorite Alice pictures from the year and included some recent pictures of our little Master of Disaster. Enjoy.

Peligro Means Danger
Now that she is an independent, crawling young lady, Alice has decided to shun any toy that is either (a) colorful, (b) age-appropriate, or (c) safe. As you can see from this picture, she is drawn to danger. This may be a bad sign of things to come...
